During daytime, when the solar panels are in generating mode, the electricity generated will be utilised directly as per the demand and excess will be supplied to the state grid (EXPORT).

Whenever your solar power is less than load power (Day-time when load is more than generated power / Night-time) electricity will be drawn from the utility grid (IMPORT). A Bi directional Energy Meter (Net Mete) will calculate the net energy (EXPORT – IMPORT) and you will be billed for this net value- That is only if your IMPORT is more than EXPORT).

General System

1. The Power Plant shall feed AC power synchronized with the KSEB grid, Operation shall be based on availability of stable grid power supply from the grid

2. The plant shall consist of PV arrays, fixed PV array support structure, String/Array combiner boxes, DC side Safety devices, DC cabling, Inverter to main board cabling, earthing & Lightning arrester. Additional safety disconnect on AC side is also included

3. The individual Solar PV array shall be installed on roof area of the building using fixed PV array support structure.

4. The Grid Inverter & DB’s shall be wall mounted in a room/roofed space preferably close to where panels are mounted.

Solar PV Panels (PV Array)

• The PV array shall consist of Mono‐crystalline / Poly Crystalline Silicon cells based Solar PV Modules.
• A suitable number of Solar PV modules shall be connected in a series string. A suitable number of series strings shall be connected in parallel to formulate a series‐parallel array.
• The PV strings and array will be designed to match the inverter input specifications.
• PV array shall be installed in the roof space free from any obstruction and/or shadow.
• If required adequate spacing shall be provided between two panel frames and rows of panels to facilitate personnel protection, ease of installation, replacement, cleaning of panels and electrical maintenance.
• PV array shall be oriented in the south direction at a tilt angle 8 to 12 degree in order to maximize annual energy yield of the plant.

Balance-Of-System (BOS)

Operation of a Photovoltaic systems depends on numerous components other than solar photo voltaic Module (Solar Panel) to capture, convert and utilize solar energy efficiently. Good quality balance of system (BOS) components are essential for efficient and reliable operation of a Solar plant.

BOS make up roughly 10%-50% of cost of purchase & installation and cause for the majority of maintenance requirements. 1.On Grid (Grid Tie) Inverter

• An on-grid inverter is responsible for converting direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC) that can be seamlessly fed into an electrical power grid. Typically, this AC power is adjusted to match the grid’s specifications, which commonly include 240 V RMS at 50 Hz.

• To ensure efficient and safe injection of electrical power into the grid, grid-tie inverters precisely synchronize the voltage and phase of the grid’s sinusoidal AC waveform.

• Solar Grid Tie inverters used by us are certified as per relevant IEC standards and the latest guidelines of MNRE applicable for Solar Inverter/PCU category.

• Most of the On grid Inverters comes with Remote monitoring facility through Wi-Fi connectivity. Through suitable mobile application the performance can be monitored from any place of the globe (with Wi-Fi connection) by the client as well as by our technical team.

1. String Inverters

The conventional and most commonly used type of On grid inverter are string inverters.. String Inverters are On grid Inverters which convert the DC electricity fed by a number of Solar panels connected in a series. The number of panels to be connected in series depends on the DC input rating of the String Inverter. There are string inverters which can handle multiple strings of panels.
Depending on the capacity of the system, that could mean all the solar modules are wired in single series to a single String Inverter inverter or that the panels are grouped into sub strings and connected to multi string inverters.

2. Micro Inverters

As the name suggest, Micro Inverters are very small inverters, which dedicatedly works for individual  Solar PV Module. Means, a string of multiple solar panels are not required for a micro inverter to do its function. Each solar panels will be fitted with a micro inverter under it.

Instead of the panels being wired in series, adding up voltage and feed to a common inverter, the microinverters work by converting the DC power from each Solar module to 240VAC. Then the output of all the micro inverters are parallelly connected and fed to the loads. 

2. Panel Mounting Structure

Mounting structures, on which Solar panels are mounted, provide support to modules. These support structures hold the solar panels at appropriate angles to ensure that they receive maximum solar irradiation.

Solar panels need to be installed on different surfaces like Rooftop, ground etc. For rooftop solar systems different type roof need different type of panel structure. The solar panel structure shall be strong, durable and to hold the solar panel to the required direction and angle. Also, provision shall be there to acces the solar panels for cleaning, maintenance and inspections. The steel structures need to be painted with weather proof epoxy paints for longer life

7. Earthing

When installing solar plants EARTHING is required for all system components to limit the voltage imposed by lightning, line surges, un-intentional contacts with high voltage lines. In our Solar power systems, the following earthing will be done, apart from the earthing of Lightning Arrester

8. Lightning Arrester

A lightning arrester is a device used on solar power systems to protect the insulation and conductors of the system from the damaging effects of lightning.

SEnSOL incorporates Lightning Arresters for all its power systems, irrespective of capacity.

We use Multi spike Copper Lightning arrester with Nylon base so that to get proper insulation.

Insulated Aluminium Alloy down conductors with cross sectional area of 50 sq.mm confirming to IS/IEC 62305-3 and IEC 62561-2 are used in Lightning arresters to conduct the lightning current between the Lightning Arrester spike and the earth termination .

9. Solar Energy Meter

A Solar Energy Meter is incorporated in our Solar On grid system to measure the Energy generation from Solar in Kili Watt Hour (KWh). This is a normal KWh meter.

We ensure accuracy and reliability by using reputed brand Energy Meters only.

10. Solar Net Meter (Bi-directional Meter)

A Bidirectional Energy Meter (Watt Hr Meter) is used in a Solar On grid system to measure the energy exported by the plant to the utility grid company (E.g. KSEB) and how much Electricity is taken from the Grid (Import).

In Net metering system, the difference of the above (Export – Import) will be billed to the consumer. In SEnSOL, we always design the capacity of the system with Export greater than import so that the net energy bill be Zero.

Usually, the Net meter is installed by the grid distribution Company (E.g., KSEB)

11. Connectors, Lugs etc.

In SEnSOL, we use proper terminal connectors and lugs only for cable terminations and interconnections. We know that improper terminations and connections lead reliability issues and system malfunctioning. The resistance developed in joints and terminal points can even cause sparks & fire hazards.
